  1. People who think wind farms are bad for animals need to get their heads checked. I’m sick of seeing the signs all over saying wind turbines are bad for animals. These are the same people that are raising beef and pork for human consumption at the expense of the EARTH. Livestock accounts for more greenhouse gases and water consumption for anything on earth and you people still complain that you have no money and that Farmers feed citys. Farmers feed citys irresponsibly!!!

Growing crops to feed just us humans instead of to livestock THEN humans would deliver a 10 fold increase in food production and stop world food shortages so you “good christian farmers would not have to pay world vision for a starving child to make yourself sleep better at night”. Any way to get to the point if you rich farmers who like to complain they are undercut and that anything green would effect their way of life you can go f… yourselves. Get your stocks out of gas and oil and go green and grow crops for us instead of meat. There is no other way!!

  2. Obviously anybody who thinks farmers are making big money is clearly out of touch with the realities of growing food in this country. Next time my friend check the label of your tofu and canned peaches. If you don’t think the cost of importing these items is not hurting the environment with fuel emissions all the way from China, you clearly don’t understand how farmers are being manipulated by big business. He should note that there is a major push by China to import cheap commodities such as wheat and in turn making big dollars from selling their Fuji apples to North America. All this because they have inordinate amount of cheap labour.

  3. The misinformed youth of today need to learn where and who to direct their anger at.

  4. It is kind of scary how someone can be so out of touch about where their food comes from and what it takes to get into a store, which many of us depend on. We need to support our farmers who more than likely have chosen a life style that has nothing to do with getting rich. Farmland lost to IWTs can never be reclaimed.

  5. Sure wish I could be a farmer….. Oh wait I can’t, because I was not born in to a farming family that owns hundreds of acres and passes the land on to another complaining generation. If farmers are not making money then why don’t they sell their land to someone who can. I’m sure they will have lots of money then.
It would be nice to be able to swim in our local lakes and rivers again without the worry of farm runoff polluting everything. Take down the pig and cattle factories you “broke” farmers keep popping up everywhere and maybe you would get a little more respect from the so called “misinformed youth”.
Someone please tell me why we can’t just stop eating meat. Tell me if you think this would help or hurt the environment. Then tell me if you think it would help or hurt the welfare of canadian farmers. Then tell me why you somehow think that the “big business” is not just manipulating you into believing that wind turbines will hurt you and your animals.

  6. Hey D-man. Yes, it would be nice if we all quit eating meat. It would help the environment. My son and his family are all vegans. Maybe that day will come.

In the meantime, there are people’s whose livelihood depends on it. Perhaps someday when you have children to feed and a mortgage to pay, you might understand that.

Big business is not manipulating us into anything. We are living it. This isn’t some idealistic, abstract, distant political statement. I think big business (wind industry) and big NGOs are manipulating yours. Read the article on propaganda.

  7. Who’s wright or wrong and who’s manipulating who here is a matter of opinion. Therefore we will never agree.
By the way I have a family and have owned 3 homes. We lost the last one due to the recession along with my job. No one was there to bail us out.
With change comes sacrifice. He who rejects change is the architect of decay.
I find it interesting and of no surprise that you know meat eating is not a sustainable practice yet are willing to support it in the meantime for peoples livelihoods. Try telling that to the future generations who will have nothing left.
I have nothing against peoples concerns over wind turbines coming to their area. I do have a problem with them saying it will hurt their farm animals because deep down they know, like yourself, that they should not be raising them in the first place.

  8. HERE IS FOOD FOR THOUGHT. I LIVE IN WEST LINCOLN AND WE HAVE 11 PROPOSED WIND TURBINES COMING TO OUR AREA AND WERE NOT GIVEN THE CHANCE TO HAVE A SAY AS TO WHETHER WE WANTED THIS IN OUR AREA.
    HERE ARE SOME PROVEN FACTS
    1. THE ONLY GREEN THING ABOUT TURBINES IS THE MONEY THE COMPANYS MAKE, AND THE MONEY THE PEOPLE OF THE COMMUNITY WILL LOSE.
    2. THERE ARE PROVEN HEALTH CONCERNS
    3. PEOPLE ALL OVER THE WORLD THAT LIVE IN THE AREA OF THESE TURBINES HAVE ABANDONED THEIR HOMES. THEY CANT STAY THERE BECAUSE OF THE RELATED HEALTH PROBLEMS, AND THEY CAN’T SELL THEIR PROPERTIES.
DON’T BE FOOLED BY THE TURBINE MARKETEERS, OFFERING MONEY, THAT YOU WILL NEVER SEE, BECAUSE WHO WILL WANT YOUR PROPERTY WHEN YOU CAN NO LONGER LIVE THERE.
    SHOW ME THE MONEY NOW.
DON’ T BE STUPID, JUST SAY NO !
BE INFORMED, THIS IS NOT A GOOD PROJECT.
REMEMBER, THE GOVERNMENT IS BEHIND MAKING IT EASIER FOR THESE COMPANIES, AND TAKING AWAY OUR POWER TO OPPOSE THESE PROJECTS.
HAVEN’T WE BEEN BULLIED LONG ENOGH, LOOK AT THE HST, DO WE NEVER LEARN.
WE NEED TO STEP BACK AND TAKE A LESSON FROM THE NATIVES, WE SHOULD HIRE THEM TO SORT OUT THE DESPUTES OVER THESE TURBINES.
BLOCKS ROADS OF FUTURE PROJECTS, MAKE IT DIFFICULT.
DON’T JUST HAND OVER OUR PROPERTIES.
I SPENT MY LIFE BUILDING EQUITY IN MY PROPERTY FOR RETIREMENT, AS ALOT OF PEOPLE DO.
WHAT RETIREMENT WILL WE HAVE WHEN THEY ERECT A WIND TURBINE IN OUR AREA AND OUR PROPERTIES ARE WORTHLESS.
    THINK HARD, READ THE FACTS.

  9. It is amazing how a thread can be distracted by ignorance. Frankly most of the post should have been deleted so that it did not consume energy.

In case anyone believes that there is a point to the whiny post — just recall that many farm animals eat grass and other fodder than cannot be consumed by humans. There is lots of cropland that cannot grow foodstuffs suitable for humans.

I leave it at that and encourage people to stick to the points as best they can. I for one intend to ignore D-Mans posts unless he/she/it stays directly on point.
