A young man was rushed to a London hospital Thursday night after part of a crane fell on him and crushed his feet.
The industrial accident happened around 9 p.m. on the 14th Line near the town of Merlin while workers were erecting a windmill, according to Chatham-Kent police.
The 18-year-old was helping disassemble a large crane when a part of the boom fell between six inches and a foot, hitting his legs then landing on his feet.
He suffered a “crushing injury to his feet,” police said, and was rushed to hospital in London for emergency surgery.
The Ministry of Labour is investigating.
