Why we are fighting?

Welland Tribune

Thanks to the president of IPC Energy for enlightening us on the “non-issue” of wind turbines and Skydive Burnaby.  Unfortunately, it seems to me Wainfleet is full of “non-issues” depending on who one talks to.

Be that as it may, I am disturbed by the fact that, as a municipality, we have a say in what happens to us, but once a body of people more senior to those who are elected here decide that something is going to be done, then we can jump through all kinds of hoops for years and years enabling other people to make money off us.

 I’m getting tired of this.

If the Ontario Green Energy Act says we must have the turbines, then why are we wasting our time going to meeting after meeting on the subject?

We “lucked out” in Ontario and got a premier who set up agreements to pay many times the going rate for “green energy” from solar and windmills, while ignoring the fact that fossil fuel plants must run too in order to provide instant backup when the sun goes down or the wind drops, or both.

He justifies this while wearing a reasonably straight face and without asking us, the people living here, what we want or need.

Or maybe he did. Who knows?

I don’t know about you, but I resent the fact that I have to watch the clock to do basic household chores in my leisure time. With all the brains in the world, something should be done to make life more enjoyable. No wonder so many people are ill.

Time to get priorities straight and that is our environment, since, if we keep on doing what we’re doing, then heaven help us all. A little common sense would help.
