Wilkinson has picked his team

PLEASE ATTEND!  Meeting with the Minister of the Environment and staff. Thursday, Feb. 3 at 1 p.m. Perth County Council Chambers

Stratford Beacon Herald

In the Dec. 17 article Turbines Under Attack it was stated that MPP John Wilkinson declined to attend a public meeting. The topic of the meeting was industrial wind farms. Wilkinson is quoted in your newspaper as saying, “A referee doesn’t lace up his skates with any member of a hockey team before a game,” he said. “We have to make decisions based on (a project’s) merits or lack thereof.” He was concerned that his attendance may suggest support for one side of the issue.

Recently the medical officer of health for Grey and Bruce counties issued a report on industrial wind farms. In it she stated she would like to see more research into the possible health effects of wind turbines. Mr. Wilkinson was contacted by the Owen Sound Sun Times for his reaction. When asked if more research would be undertaken as the medical officer of health had suggest, Wilkinson was quoted as saying, “No. We have plenty of scientific data upon which we’ve made our determination about what has led to the most stringent setbacks in North America.”

He then goes on to state, “We are more than open to review any scientific data … but we are confident the data we have on hand and the fact that we have people like the chief medical officer, the Ontario Agency for Health Protection and Promotion, all of those kind of outward-looking groups, scanning all available data.”

It looks like Mr. Wilkinson has laced up his skates and joined one of the teams.

  1. There seems to be a world-wide “awakening” now regarding Government involvement in people’s lives and not on a good note!

This may not be Egypt or Tunisia but we can certainly relate, specially when Toronto was reduced to “police State” in June when the G20 unleashed their brand of “justice” on the peaceful streets!

The World has had enough of being lied to, robbed and pillaged by big Industry and their political allies and the people are pissed off!

Wilkinson is so far behind in his “awareness” of how far and badly treated this present Government has treated it’s electorate that I wouldn’t spend one minute trying to deal with this man and expecting any more than just “hollow rhetoric”!

    Enough!

  2. Wilkinson was quoted as saying, “No. We have plenty of scientific data upon which we’ve made our determination about what has led to the most stringent setbacks in North America.”

How does he say that with impunity!? It is demonstrably not true but are reporters so gutless or uninformed that they NEVER call the man on it?

I want to hear a real throw down on the issue which will back the politicians into the proverbial corner.
