Info session in Elmwood draws 200

Close to 200 people attended a wind energy information session in Elmwood.

A panel of anti-wind energy experts spent about two hours warning Brockton landowners of potential health effects, decreasing land value and restrictive land leases.

Ripley electrical pollution tester Dave Colling claims stray voltage causes a number of health effects, adding the high frequency voltage on the transmission lines coming from the turbines interferes with the standard power lines leading into homes.

Colling says he signed a lease for a wind turbine in 2004 and urges Brockton residents not to make the same mistake, though he was able to get out of his lease after three years.
Colling adds a number of homes have been abandoned in the Ripley area since the wind turbines were built.
