Thompson says she’s not giving up on Local Municipal Democracy Act

While a private member’s bill called the Local Municipal Democracy Act was defeated last Thursday, Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson says she isn’t going to give up. “We’re going back to the drawing board. We’re going to keep working away and we hope to reintroduce it,” she said last week during a phone interview. The private member’s bill proposed giving back some control over the location of industrial wind turbines to the local municipalities involved. Read article

  1. All control needs to be returned to local jurisdictions. Only settle for returning part of people’s rights? No compromises here. The GEA took away people’s rights and those rights must be returned to the people. Don’t play politics with the people’s rights!
