Robert Hornung, puffing spokesperson for the heavily subsidized wind industry in Canada, should have titled his piece, “Wind Drives Out Investment.” Regardless of the one-sided propaganda that his industry spews out on a regular basis, the use of expensive wind energy also hammers the economy with a knockout punch. In Spain, for every job that was created by wind energy, two jobs were lost due to increased manufacturing costs in other sectors.
Most manufacturers look for cheap and reliable sources of power to run their plants.
Wind energy cheap or reliable? Have a look at your hydro bill to see how cheap it is.
When the “reliable” wind stops blowing, your power goes out, providing an impressive zero amount of energy.
Cleaning up air pollution? Another windy dream: About 60 per cent of southern Ontario’s smog blows in from the U.S. and most of the rest is from chugging vehicles on the roads.
Closing down all of the coalfired generating stations will actually have little effect on the overall air quality but is the misguided platform upon which Dalton McGuinty and his gang of tyrants live and die.
Natural gas plants will merely replace the coal-fired ones.
