Date: June 19
Time: 5:30pm to 8:00pm
Place: Rolling Hills Public School, 694 Highway 7A & Highway 35, RR #1, Bethany, ON
More info
The citizens of the City of Kawartha Lakes are asking for your help. We are on the last lap in our efforts to show the Government of Ontario and Wind Power Development ( Canada) that we have no interest in having our beautiful farming and tourist area carpet bombed by hundreds of 400 feet tall Industrial Wind Turbines.
On June 19th from 5:30 PM until 8:30 PM, WPD will be holding their second ( and final) so called Public Consultation at the Rolling Hills Public School at Hwy 7A and Hwy 35.
We are asking the community to gather as one, in the parking lot of the school from 5:30 pm until 7:00 for fellowship and to listen to Heather Stauble, your local councillor, and Laurie Scott MPP, speak to us about our struggle.
At 7 PM we will then have the opportunity to enter the school and ask representatives of WPD the questions so many of us would like answered.
Make no mistake. This project will only be the first of many. The attached map illustrates what will inevitably happen to this community once the first project gets a beach head. Ask the people of Chatham- Kent, Wolfe Island, Shelbourne or Ripley.
To the media …..please come out in force to report on this pivotal meeting. This pastoral rural area is about to change forever.
To everyone else please mark your calendars , bring family and friends and a lot of questions for the wind company.
Thank you.
Manvers Wind Concerns

I am surprised to see no comments here.
As a opponent attending this upcoming meeting, does anyone have advice for me? Should I prepare and present a letter to the developer outlining my thoughts? Will my opinion be fairly considered in the review process? Who else should be cc’d if I prepare a letter of opposition?
I have written and spoken to politicians as well as signed many petitions. I see the process as a violation of our rights and I am losing hope in our democracy. Please help!
Having attended countless “public meetings”, there is no other way to put it gently…it is a farce. A joke.
Your comments will be promptly thrown in the trashcan as soon as possible. The developers and/or the government don’t give two hoots what you think. This is about big money.
I lost any hope in even the facade of democracy a long time ago. Is a protest planned in your area?
Thanks for the reply. No protests are planned in our area that I am aware of. However, we do have a local opposition group in our community that is doing a great job. Our local mpp and municipal gov’t are in our corner.
I think I will take Barbara’s advice and submit a letter anyway. Even if it goes in the trash, I’ll feel I’ve done my part in this process.
Send a letter to the developer and keep a copy. Don’t let developers be able to say they didn’t hear anything from the community. Same thing with local council. Send letter to your local paper outlining your objections. But don’t expect much of a response.
Then find a local anit-wind group near you to work with and stay in touch with OWR.
Fraser, we have been canvassing Manvers for the past two and a half weeks. Going door to door telling people to go to the meeting and tell WPD what they think of their turbines. We’ve gone to the farmers and the villages and the response is the same all over. They don’t want these useless turbines in Manvers. We must have at least 95% of the folks who now realize these turbines are of no use and don’t belong in communities. We have created tv spots, radio ads, and flyers over the past two and a half years and it appears the folks have caught on.
Now we just need you to come to the meeting, join our rally, sign our “Letter of objection” and together we will prove to WPD and McGuinty that wind turbines in Manvers is a very
bad idea.
I definitely plan on attending tomorrow evening. WPD should not expect to see any welcome mats put out for them here.
I’m actually more excited about the possibility of a July election. Bring it on Dalton. Polls are looking pretty good for a Conservative victory.
What could be better than a nice drive through the Oak Ridges Moraine countryside, an early dinner at the iconic Haugen’s Chicken BBQ at Manchester / Port Perry, a pleasant social hour out in front of Rolling Hills Public School with our fellow wind whackers … then we enter the WPD meeting at around 7:00 pm for some “entertainment” … and enjoy the bountiful evening daylight for the ride home? Did I mention my massage at 2:00 pm?
See you there!
Have these issues been looked into:
Company ownership and any connections in Ontario
Which company has been retained to get the permits
Where is the project financing coming from
Any local conflicts of interest

Claus/Klaus Meier, CEO?
Seems that wpd AG does projects and lines up the financing for the projects as well.

Although not entitled to any say as are residents of your local area, know that some here in Marmora, your “neighbours” confronted with a “greed energy” Non-Renewable project proposed by Northland Power partnered with Aecon and allegedly intended as energy storage/backup primarily for IWT, will be thinking of you. Should you plan a peaceful public protest, please let us know directly and in advance. Unlike our counterparts in likewise devastated communities but battling local projects defined as Renewable, our concerns have no affiliated, organized citizen group(s) or political representation for our concerns locally, provincially or federally.
We share your pain being inflicted upon us all and in many ways, oft referenced as the “wrenching transformation of society”. Not wise to overlook the “Green Economy” implications of Ontario’s Green Energy and Green Economy Act (GEGA) that stomps on freedom and democracy in lockstep “alignment with” the well-documented means and goals of the UN’s Agenda 21/ Sustainable Development and what is taking place worldwide to achieve its methodical Glocal “implementation”. As Vaclav Klaus has opined publicly, it’s ALL about freedom. As Elaine Dewar’s 1995 informative book was titled, it’s merely wearing a misleading “Cloak of Green”. Canada became signatory to Agenda 21 at Rio, in 1992 and it appears nothing can change for the better until Canada becomes un-signatory to national commitment to “alignment” and restores Canada to and for Canadians. Unfortunately, Canada perhaps accelerated the opposite “effect” by adopting the “aligned” Federal Sustainable Development Act in June of 2008?
Hey Kathy Hamilton,
Yikes! I looked @ your link:
http://www.marmoraandlake.ca/view.cfm?Prod_Key=3849&PROD_DETAIL_KEY=5080&TEMP=Content%20Single&KeyWord=N%2FA
Hey Kathy – we can’t go back to 1992.
Harper has already backed away from the Kyoto Protocol – that’s a step
in the right direction.
He angered many.
Suzuki – is on a war path – headed for Ontario.
He’s gonna make the U.N. proud. Brrr.
As of right now – there is no evidence the Federal Government supports
the U.N. Sustainable Development Agenda 21.
Unfortunately for us in Canada – the Federal Government cannot control what
a political party – with a majority wants to do.
The Climate Group – jumped on it! McGuinty welcomed them.
In fact, they commented – The Liberal Party can do whatever it wants to do.
At the local level – we have over 400 municipalities.
@ least 46 have chosen to follow McGuinty’s agenda.
What’s troubling – it’s being implemented in a very deceitful way – involving local
citizens – on committee’s embedded within the municipality.
This is not legislated – provincially or federally – period.
It is being implemented on the convoluted notion –
citizens volunteered – and want the U.N. Agenda 21 implemented in their
communities. Ugh!
This has never happened before.
Nevertheless – councils are moving forward with it.
Why?
Why not ask them?
Put simply -
This is risky business.
My sincere suggestion is to get there before WPD reps and their college kids that can not answer any of your questions anyway. They have been trained to be “stepford clones”.
Chain and padlock all the doors into the building. Carry a lawyers phone number in your pocket..No wallet/no purse. ( make sure you do not lock anyone inside so as to avoid ” forible confinement charges. ) Have a peaceful, sit in..go limp! Have each door protected by a group of volunteers. Hold off the chain cutters as long as possible….. without violence. Do not let WPD tell the press that they had a successful meeting! ( That is key ) One person can make a difference and all of rural Ontario is hoping someone will “light the cannon of freedom. Others will follow, all over this once great province.
For most of us older folks, a first offence and a charge of “Obstruction of a public building” is trivial.
It will take the police hours to drag away and process so many people. Lie still and “play dead” Many police will be on our side! Then the meeting is over and the press will have a national story to tell. “WPD failed to have their FINAL SAY” “The people spoke” ” McGuinty is toast!”
SAY NO and MEAN NO and just DO IT!
Enough already! Are we to let our ancestors be ashamed at how easy we gave up our rights and freedoms in 2012? Our Canadian Charter states that we have the right to peacible enjoyment of our home. Protect that. Fight for that.
STAND ON GUARD FOR THEE, otherwise the words “Glorious and Free will be meaningless forever more.
Call your Conservative MP and ask them to join you. They are just waiting for a reason to take down the Liberals. Have signs that call for an ELECTION to OUST McGuinty NOW! Call McGuinty’s bluff! Be prepared to serve your community and province and make a serious stand against this tyranny. We are all in this together and our future grandchildren are counting on us.
GODSPEED
I proudly sign my name,
Melodie Burkett
Melodie is absolutely right. I have also attended numerous community meetings. They are all the same; same format, same bs. Heck, one of the company reps I spoke with had been recently hired on. He was from the east coast and been with the company for three days; definitely a “stepford clone”.
Civilized protests, letters – ignored. I have been 4 years fighting this battle.
What these companies tell you is one thing; what they actually do is much more than proposed.
I like your idea Melodie.
Good luck, sincerely.
Soon people will have to get proactive rather than reactive.
Exactly Barbara,
Belly aching til the cows come home won’t do it; neither will sitting around waiting for someone else to take care of business. Ontarians need to get off their butts and be “proactive”. We are in the eye of the storm; people don’t care or don’t get it? GET ON IT Ontario.
Big deal!!!!!
WPD final public meeting
I recall we had an election –
we voted for our councils – to represent us – locally –
to be our voice.
Instead – they wheel and deal – behind closed doors.
They scream at the top of their lungs – they can do nothing -
and citizens believe it!
How lucky – corrupt councils – get a free pass.
Big deal – another public meeting!
How do you spell corruption?
That’s easy – in this case
City of Kawartha Lakes – and everybody knows it.
To the above half dozen posters: you are all CORRECT, but …
Complaining about people not being proactive enough is easy … not going to this “useless” meeting is even easier.
As far as I can see, all Manvers Wind Concerns asked for was for people to show up outside this farce of a meeting to make it as uncomfortable as possible for WPD and their greedy worshipers and to have one last protest outside the venue. The bs and blather being spun inside at the “final information meeting” itself is totally beside the point and unimportant in the whole scheme of things. To their credit, some of the local council and the MPP are planning to attend … better than nothing.
Sitting at home posting endlessly on this site certainly isn’t going to improve the situation.
Big deal – as I said in an above post – you jump in your car, enjoy the drive, go out for dinner, take some pleasure in getting into the face of all these useless WPD hacks, then you leave. When you get home, you’ll still have time to continue carpet bombing this site with more of your helpful information.
People still need to attend these ulseless meetings to show their resistance.
Hey SkepticalGord,
If you keep doing the same thing – over and over again – like ahhhhhhhhhhhh
going to OPA public meetings -
like ahhhhhhhhh
where has that gotten us.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhh
The mayors and councils – sip champagne –
behind closed doors
ahhhhhhhhhhhh
are you still – not getting it?
Yeah – it is a ‘big deal’
I guess this means I won’t need to save you a seat at Haugen’s …
Hey ScepticalGord,
I always – like to keep my options open; never burn bridges.
…..keep up your enthusiasm
……………………and never give up – that should be the ‘dominant theme’
Did anybody else hear / see this?
On today’s CTV News at Noon, a woman (I missed her name) from Bethany phoned in to say that she wants an election to get rid of McGuinty who’s GEA and industrial wind turbines are running roughshod over rural Ontario. It appeared that she was cut off (or was victim of an electronic malfunction?), but either way, the program’s hosts, Christine Bentley, who was speechless, and Ken Shaw, who started to comment but stopped in mid word, looked like they were told to move on to another subject by “the man” behind the curtain.

I’ve heard programs where things like this have happened since the “beginning” a few years ago. I remember a lady on a CBC program about problems in rural life talking about the Gas plant going in the Holland Marsh. She was shut down. They just wanted small talk on the price of eggs. I don’t know if the gas plant went through. Probably, because it is in an environmentally sensitive area, and not enough rural votes to shut McGuinty down.
Oh, and where is the info on Bill 55 that the NDP wasn’t going to support? I don’t hear much from the media on it.
One can go around and around in circles with the connections among at least some of the developers,OPA,MSM, banks, financial interests, etc. Is it any wonder discussion is shut down?
Confirmed: Sarah of Bethany said she was cut off by CTV … right around the time she called McGuinty a communist. Well Dalton, if the shoe fits …
BTW, the chicken and ribs and strawberry pie were outstanding, the rally was well attended and a huge success … and a rambunctious crowd told WPD, in no uncertain terms, what they could do with their turbines.
Well done Manvers Wind Concerns!
While we’re on the topic!
If you live in Bluewater – you might want to take a look @ some of your By-Laws
being passed -
I started here: and, was stunned.
But of course – maybe, I misinterpreted ‘it’s’ intention.
What do you think?

It creeps me out!
Sarah’s phone call resulted in another piece of the puzzle falling into place.
