NextEra Energy Canada project could meet the wrath of North Middlesex council
By JOHN MINER, The London Free Press
he fight to halt wind turbine development in Southwestern Ontario shifts to North Middlesex Tuesday with opponents pushing for a ban on wind farm development. A resolution going to North Middlesex council Tuesday night calls for the Ontario government to place an immediate moratorium on the development, construction, erection and implementation of wind turbines until a Health Canada health study on turbines is completed in 2014.
“This is a big deal for us,” said Muriel Allingham of Middlesex Lambton Wind Action Group, a citizens’ group rallying opposition to wind turbine development. NextEra Energy Canada is developing the Bornish Wind Energy Centre in North Middlesex, a 73.5-megawatt wind farm consisting of up to 48 wind turbines. The project has already been awarded a 20-year contract from the Ontario Power Authority.
NextEra also plans to install 38 turbines in Adelaide-Metcalfe. The company has run into stiff opposition from residents there worried about the effects turbines could have on their health. Residents have protested at public meetings about the project and the company also has had difficulty finding venues to host the meetings. Read article

‘[excerpt] Despite the projected benefits, North Middlesex Mayor Don Shipway expects the resolution against the wind farm will be passed by council.’
Let’s put the mayor in charge of –
something really important – now!
“NextEra Energy Canada is developing the Bornish Wind Energy Centre in North Middlesex, a 73.5-megawatt wind farm consisting of up to 48 wind turbines. The project has already been awarded a 20-year contract from the Ontario Power Authority.”
That word “awarded” always bothers me, like they’ve won another BIG prize for the next 20 years.
It is a big prize – they stand to make lots of money – with totally no regard for us innocent non particiapting receptors – just like here in Melancthon! What price a life!!!!!!?????
Right! And in CK a very wealthy individual was awarded a 20 yr guaranteed income contract. But people don’t object to the fact that this individual has close connections to those in a position to award this contract?
Some councils understand that the IWT scheme provides 20 yr guaranteed income contracts for very wealthy people and some councils don’t understand this or they are willing to go along with this scam. IWT host landowners only get a few crumbs off from the table as do municipalities who go along with this scheme with the money they get coming out of their own Hydo bills.
IWT “noise” complaints and health issues go unheeded by the government becasue at least some of the IWT companies have the right connections to block these complaints and health issues? So this makes it possible for all the iWT companies to get away with this?
And of course, in the words of (Academic) Lorne Knoppel (name?) it is all about ATTITUDE! There is no problem with IWT’s, it is our attitudes which need to be addressed. …….. hmmmmm ??
OUR attitudes ????
Knpple, a toxicologist?, and have the gall to present this person as an expert on IWT health issues?
Well, dont forget, and as a reply to my question at the open house – NONE of the ‘experts’ are volunteers! They are ALL getting paid. Toxicologist / Academic whatever he calls himself, words are just words, but he has the guts (no conscience) to stand there and repeat a well-rehearsed version of his ‘expert opinion’ night after night – the rewards are high! $$$ value at least!
The governnent not having the proper equipment, enough of it and the trained technicians to operate the proper “noise” eqipment is willful negligence. Doing this provides means of deniability for the governmnet. No correct information then no “noise” issues.
Not having any detailed maps of IWT locations is another way for the government to have deniability as to the overall effects that so many IWTs will have on any given location.
Also- they NEED to have better answers (aka excuses) for questions regarding wind speeds and decibels. We asked questions time and again for clarification about wind speeds and noise – eventually they just sat looking at each other and bumbling illiegible words between themselves.
(The village called – the idiots are missing!!!!)
This leads us to believe that they DONT know because they have not conducted proper tests. How many times have they sat through a Melancthon wind storm????? Telling us the noise does not increase with higher winds is just not acceptable, or believable! We live in it – we know!
Wikipedia, simple English, Toxicology
Toxicology is the study of the negative effects of chemicals on living things. Where are chemicals unless one is talking about the IWT lubricants or the chemical compounds that can leach from the cement IWT pad?
A toxicologist is an IWT “noise” expert” ?
Just more deceit and fraud perpetrated on rural Ontarians.
http://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toxicology
IWT “noise” issues have been neglected or denied by the present government for some six years now.
Not providing the proper equipment, enough of this equipment and the trained technicians to operate this equipment around the province is WILLFUL and DLIBERATE NEGLIGENCE It’s a deliberate attempt on the part of the government to conceal IWT “noise” issues.
The same can be said about the way IWT “noise” complaints are delt with or not delt with. Hope people have kept their own complaint records to show others what they have had to put up with concerning their own “noise” complaints.

North Middlesex — There doesn’t seem to be a council with strong formal education in math and science. It makes it harder for them to understand the issues.
It dosen’t take a rocket scientist to understand that this IWT scam is about providing wealthy people with a 20 yr guaranted high interest income on their ivestments in renewable energy.
Oh – What’s happening here?

Anyway — I don’t see any big shift in anything…
Same old cookies cutters — still stamping out wind turbines — same old same old…
Same old brain dead approach. Now if somebody mated one withe backside of a provincial MPP — that would be a novel approach worth commemorating!
I believe sometime in the future there will be the realization that this is a good class action lawsuit. The unfortunate thing is that many (at least in the U.S.) once they get money from the Wind Company or have sold their home to them when they can’t live there any more have signed a gag order preventing them from talking. I don’t know if that would mean they couldn’t testify in a class action case in court. Although compared to the smoking issue we are talking smaller numbers; the idea is the same.. I think a class action suit of those whose lives have been impacted might be interesting. It’s too bad the wind companies putting up these IWT don’t mess over some lawyers – they might take an interest.
The wind companies have the best lawyers money can buy and the largest law firms engaged as well. Some of the same lawyers do wind company legal work in both countries.
Gag orders are used in Canada to silence people.Wind contracts appear to be about the same in both countries.
Class action law suits are not as common in Canada as in the States because in Canada lawyers are not allowed to take cases on a contingency basis. Here people need ~ 50-100K in advance to begin legal action which most ordinary people don’t have or can raise
…and even if the money was raised, what is the chance of the lawyers being bought off by the wind company anyway? Money talks…..
Remember the movie ‘Silkwood’ ???? This could be ‘Windwood’ ….
