Ontario Liberal leadership protest Sunday

Lib candidate protest
Date:  January 6th

Time:  12pm-3pm
Place:  Ajax Convention Centre 550 Beck Crescent, Ajax MAP

By Lisa Gervais, The Lindsay Post
Manvers Wind Concerns, a group formed to fight industrial wind turbines in the Bethany-Pontypool areas, will take part in a Sunday protest at the Liberal leadership debate in Ajax. In an email invitation, organizers said it would be an opportunity to “let the Liberal candidates for leadership of the party failing rural Ontario (to) know how you feel.” The protest is to begin from noon and go until about 3 p.m. outside the debate at the Ajax Convention Centre.

Organizers said “industrial wind turbines and the governments’ renewable energy programs are scandalous. They have nothing to do with protecting the planet, reducing fossil fuel usage, or producing so called clean energy. They are all about the money, promoted for the money, by the money, and accomplished with your money.” Read article

Earlier today I sent an “Open Letter” to Jeff Leal (MPP Peterborough Riding) and to the Peterborough Examiner asking for MPP Leal to join us on Sunday at our protest at the Ajax Convention Centre.

I reminded him of comments he made to The Peterborough This Week (March 16, 2012 edition, p. 13) wherein he was quoted saying, “Part of the review of the Green Energy Act was to sit back for a moment and hear the input”…”He says the Province has looked into providing municipalities with more jurisdiction over where wind turbines can be located”…”He’s not sure that wind turbines will be much of an issue in his riding – which doesn’t include Manvers – since it’s not all that windy”.

I also reminded MPP Leal of the “Final Meeting” scheduled for Thursday, January 31 from 5-8pm at the Asphodel-Norwood Community Centre regarding the proposed Wind Farm Collie Hill–which although not located in the City of Peterborough–is located within Peterborough County which most certainly is part of his riding!

I kindly reminded Mr. Leal that we do expect our MPP to stand up for us and for what he said–as a lot of his constituents are counting on what MPP Leal said “…that wind turbines will be much of an issue in his riding”.

We’re counting on you Jeff–don’t let us down!

I’m sorry Debbie — I just burst out laughing… You weren’t serious were you?

    • barbara says:

Just another MPP who dosen’t even know or care about IWT issues in Ontario. This guy shold be inundated with the information that’s been posted here.
The high wind areas are done first and then areas with lower wind speeds are done next.

      • 1957chev says:

In order to accommodate the low wind areas, they are making the turbines much taller, where the higher winds are. The ones proposed for West Lincoln are 572 ft. high. We were considered to be a low wind area, but that didn’t stop them.

  2. WillR says:

Anyway — on another cheery note — maybe you should pack the message in a load (or few) of manure in which you could drive a stick with a placard — and the message written in bold type — short thought it be…

Take Your Wind Turbines and Shove them

    On the Placard that is…

  3. 1957chev says:

It sounds like a plan, but it is your idea WillR, so you really should do the honours!

    • WillR says:

I was going to complain about the fuel efficiency on my truck and pass…

But, it’s not that far away… Hmmmm!

In 2008 solar accounted for 60% of all cleantech venture deals. Now it amounts to just 12% of the total deals.

Perhaps this is the main reason for the MSM NEWS BLACKOUT.? Trying to protect investors?

This information is all over the internet. So why is the present government pretending this news/information is not the case for renewables?

      • suspicious and dismayed says:

This MSM news blackout will not protect investors. All it’s doing is covering up the facts that these are toxic investments.

So who’s going to cover these losses? “Manufacturer’s Life Insurance Co.”? Ya, right.

Well it does protect investmnets as stock prices fall on bad news and rise on good news.
A market crash is being covered up here. 90%-98% down is a market crash and these companies don’t want the general public to know this. So they hope to keep in business by continuing to install wind & solar in Ontario. These guys need cash and continuing to hand out contracts in Ontario may keep these companies afloat. The big banks, insurance companies, pension funds stand to lose big time if and when this whole scam goes down. So there is plenty at stake here.

  5. bbaurora says:

It’s the same in Europe, the US, Australia and here in Ontario.

Here in Ontario, the premier adopted ‘Green Energy’ as his economic and environmental solution to the province’s problems. After years in office, the debt is up, electricity rates are up and ‘thousands of green jobs’ never materialized. A multitude of rural residents’ wellbeing has been trashed by the IWT’s of his ‘green ideology’. Science reports, health studies and citizens’ rights are ‘denied’, and the party line is all-powerful. The news media cowers to the party and mega-dollars continue to flow from the public purse to the IWT entrepreneurs!

I’m starting to think the only way the tide can be turned is if someone produced easily transported “inaudible infrasound generators” which were then directed at the legislature, newspaper offices and the homes of politicians .. giving them all a taste of what’s happening to their rural victims.

70 decibels of health-wrecking inaudible unfiltered infrasound bouncing around in their homes and places of work! Remember, that’s not 7/4′s of 40 decibels of ‘A-filtered’ audible sound! No, for each 3 decibel increase, the compression energy approximately doubles. So, 70 decibels actually contains approximately 1,000 times the compression energy of 40 decibels. That’s real OOMMPPHH!

And how could they complain? Afterall, they’ve dismissed infrasound as irrelevant and mere ‘nimbyism’. Too bad it takes gigantic spinning blades to produce that kind of infrasound!

After dropping off some hockey players at a nearby sports complex, I’m enjoying a coffee at Timmy’s–a few hundred metres from the Ajax Convention Centre.

It was lightly raining earlier, but it has now stopped. The current temp is +2.

Bring an umbrella and a raincoat :)

  7. WillR says:

One of the guys running for the Leadership of the Liberal Party of Ontario just promised to move us from the analog age to the digital age.

As I recall analog circuitry and representation gives us infinite possibilities.

The digital age will move us all to ones and zeroes — just two choices. Imagine — infinite possibilities down to two choices….

The way I see it, in this new “digital age” we will continue to be led by the Zeroes — especially so if the Liberals are re-elected. And in the interim — the smallest Zero.

    Are you worried yet?
