More Evidence to Support PC’s Call for Wind Turbine Moratorium

(Queen’s Park)—Evidence continues to mount in support for a call for an industrial wind turbine moratorium. The Grey Bruce Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Hazel Lynn, released Literature Review 2013: Association Between Wind Turbine Noise and Human Distress today.

Dr. Lynn’s review determined the government cannot prove there is no association between industrial wind turbines and indirect health impacts. This review will also be passed on to the Minister of Health and Long-Term Care.

“This is one more proof point that we need a moratorium on industrial wind turbines,” said Thompson. “Now is the time to hit the pause button and ensure that the appropriate studies are being done before any more turbines are erected. Dr. Lynn’s review is another step in the right direction.”

Dr. Lynn also revealed that Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Arlene King, is doing another study—as FOI documents from the Ministry of the Environment released by Lisa Thompson, MPP (Huron-Bruce) last month proved Dr. King’s initial report didn’t factor indirect health impacts of wind turbines.

“We have to look at the facts—and they’re pointing towards a moratorium,” said Thompson. “Premier Wynne in her Throne Speech promised her government would be ‘respectful and direct.’ Well action is worth more than words, and if Premier Wynne wants to be respectful and direct as she claims, she will look at this mounting evidence and issue a moratorium immediately.”

  1. Just heard on the news that McWynnety isn’t going to listen to the PC’s call for an inquiry into the gas plant scandal.. What does that tell you?? Open and transparent?? Horse manure !!! Bye bye fiberals !!

    • Good riddance to bad rubbish. Wynne doesn’t stand a snowballs chance in hell of surviving as premier. I hope she doesn’t let the door hit her in the backside on the way out.

  2. There are other IWT issues besides health that the PCs could use and they need to use every issue they can get.
And I think most everyone at OWR well knows what these other issues are by now.

“‘I thought she was going to kill herself,’ ex-warden tells Smith inquest”
Feb 25, 2013, by Colin Perkel]

Ontarians are horrified by what we’re forced to witness.

A teenage inmate’s already disruptive behaviour took a drastic turn for the worse after she witnessed a hostage taking, an inquest into her death heard Monday.

The incident also had a devastating effect on an already strapped facility. Thirteen out of 85 staff filed for workers compensation. It also permanently changed Nova’s “therapeutic” environment, Legere said.

Ontarians are desperate to be heard.

Among other things, Smith smeared herself with excrement and threw feces at guards. She trashed two segregation cells by breaking sprinkler heads and windows and damaging cameras.

Ontario government officials consume more resources denying and covering-up than it would take to address the problems.

Staff built a platform with a step ladder outside so they could observe Smith from the back window of her cell.
When it proved to be too cold, they built a shelter around the platform and put a heater inside.
At another point, the facility put in a specialized window into her cell door that could be relatively easily replaced if she covered it.
“She was creating significant operational issues,” Legere said. “She was taking up a lot of our resources. I didn’t see that she was getting any better.”

Ontario wind turbine regulations are inhumane.

Prison authorities, among them mental-health professionals, drew up a plan that included withdrawing warmth and giving her the silent treatment if she acted out.

      Ontario government officials blame victims.

Legere called Smith “very intelligent but very immature.”
“She surprised me sometimes about how little she knew about worldly things,” he said.

      • It’s always blame the victim in an effort to save your own skin.
Seems to me this was just being just plain stupid and not corrupt. When you put a human in a cage they react the same as animals do.

      • These people are paid to be not stupid.
Stupidity = Corruption, in my books.

      • But to be corrupt you have to know what you are doing to begin with.

      • These officers are all admitting they knew there was a serious problem that wasn’t being addressed. They walked into work every day, knowing what they were a part of.
