Wainfleet Wind Energy applies for distribution facilities

WAINFLEET - Power from Wainfleet Wind Energy Inc.’s proposed wind turbine farm will be collected through an underground distribution system. The company, which partnered with Rankin Construction Inc. last year, applied to the Ontario Energy Board for the distribution facilities.

Notice of the application and a hearing were presented to Wainfleet council on Tuesday night in the form of correspondence. Council took the matter behind closed doors based on advice from township clerk Tanya Lamb. Township CAO Scott Luey said the matter fell under the Municipal Act for litigation or potential litigation, including matters before tribunals. “Council could ask me to speak to our lawyer about this,” Luey said before heading into the closed meeting. More bully tactics. They don’t even have the decency to wait for the judge’s decision.

That’s just what Rankin does, he bullies……… :-) No one in Niagara Region has dared say ‘Boo’ to him in years.
IPC are still supposed to be the company behind the Wainfleet Wind Energy project but seem to have now taken the back seat in this project. Rankin is the driving force and Rankin doesn’t take kindly to being opposed. Wainfleet stood up to him so Wainfleet must suffer! He is not a stupid man so even he can no longer defend this project as anything other than a crooked cash grab!
The brothers who are host landowners are so deep into it that I doubt if they have any real clue. Their contracts were signed long ago, complete with the small print, and they have chosen this wind machine project as more important than the family, friends and neighbours they are harming and who no longer wish to have anything to do with them.
What really amazes me are the ‘environmentalists’ who continue to find this next phase, totally separate from the wind machines themselves, as environmentally friendly?
Yet another and extensive industrial project, trenching across the agricultural land, woodlands and wetlands to connect the 6 wind machines and then who knows where to exit Wainfleet in the direction of the grid connections?
My hope is that Wainfleet Council stick to their guns and as this latest from Rankin was submitted in writing they just write back and reject the application subject to the outcome of the present lawsuit against them by the same Rankin!
If any of you out there have the time, any message of support for Wainfleet Township Council wouldn’t go amiss………… :-)
