Transport Canada has ordered the removal of a number of wind turbines in Chatham-Kent. They’re a hazard to aviation, as pilots fly in and out of the airport. The machines may also violate federal zoning regulations.
“If you are coming in to land and you are unfamiliar with the area, especially if clouds are starting to get low, then you could end up much closer to them then you would like to be,” says 30 flying veteran Jeffrey Pyefinch. He says the 8 turbines Transport Canada has now ordered removed, should have never been built in the first place. “The airport is protected by a federal zoning law regulation and the turbines were infringing on that area, so they should have never been allowed to go up in the first place,” says Pyefnch.     • This article should be sent to all MPPs. A great many things are possible in theory but not in actual practice.
      Case in point is the installation of a great many of the U.S.IWTs along with their transmission lines in tornado alley where some of the world’s most violent weather occurs. Mother nature will take care of that situation.
      And here in southern Ontario, one of the lightning capitals of the world, mother nature will take care of this situation as well in due time. The taller a structure is the more likely is to be struck by lightning. Then there are the highwinds that sweep thru this area to tear up transmission lines.

      • Developers talk in terms of theory and not actual practice.and the general public can’t distinguish between these two different things.
        The utility company that operates in the Michigan thumb area has lots of line loss problems with the strong winds that sweep through this area and this same weather pattern sweeps across Lake Huron right into Ontario.
        Not only does wind and lightning take out power lines but flying debris does as well. Flying debris can be seen very clearly in videos of tornados taking out/cutting power lines as they move through an area.

    Pushing our MP’s feet to the fire should always be part of a plan. They are responsible for renewable funding to the provinces. DO NOT LET THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT OFF THE HOOK FOR THEIR PART IN ALL OF THIS MESS!
    ALSO.SOMEONE WHO KNOWS OF SPECIFICS ON THIS SITE NEEDS TO EXPOSE THE WIND BIAS IN THE CANADA HEALTH STUDY ,TOO.

    ecoENERGY for Renewable Power
    The ecoENERGY for Renewable Power program was launched in April 2007 to encourage the generation of electricity from renewable energy sources such as wind, low-impact hydro, biomass, photovoltaic and geothermal energy. Although no new contribution agreements will be signed after March 31, 2011, many projects with contribution agreements will continue to receive payments as outlined in contribution agreements and up to March 31, 2021.

    At March 31, 2011, 104 projects qualified for funding under the program representing investments of about $1.4 billion over 14 years and almost 4500 megawatts of renewable power capacity.
