Turbine report questioned

By Brandon Walker, Thunder Bay Chronicle Journal

A Ministry of Health and Long-term Care report that says wind turbines are safe isn‘t authoritative enough for Nor‘wester Mountains protection committee members.

Ontario‘s Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Arlene King said in the report released last week that there‘s no evidence that wind turbines cause adverse health affects.

“Turbines are getting bigger and as they get bigger there‘s more issues around them,” committee member Karl Piirik said.  Thunder Bay Chronicle Journal

  1. Why are reports so negligent in being able to discern the details that matter.

THE FIRST GENERATION WIND TURBINES IN GERMANY WERE THE SMALLER WIND TURBINES!

NOW THE INDUSTRIAL TURBINES ARE 40 STORIES TALL!

THIS MAKES A HUGE DIFFERENCE. THESE GIANTS ARE BEING PLACED IN QUIET RURAL AREAS, ONLY 550 METERS FROM FAMILY HOMES.

EVEN THE ORIGINAL SMALLER TURBINES WERE PLACED !.5 – 2KMS FROM HOMES IN MOST OF EUROPE!

We must take our Government to task and law suit for the improper placement and Industrial Corporate take over of our rural land!

  2. Dr. Arlene King….it is about time you got a real medical degree. We’re not talking about one or two nights of sleepless nights. This sleeplessness is endless torture. Lack of sleep is robbing us of our health yet you disagree. Arlene, here are the FACTS:

The consequences of sleep deprivation are so intense because your circadian rhythm has evolved over hundreds of generations to align your physiology with your environment, and your body clock assumes that, like your ancestors, you sleep at night and stay awake during daylight hours.

If you confuse the situation by depriving yourself of enough hours of sleep, you send conflicting signals to your body.

A single night of sleeping only four to six hours can impact your ability to think clearly the next day. Sleep deprivation can cause changes in your brain activity similar to those experienced by people with psychiatric disorders

In addition, too little sleep can:

•Increase your risk of cancer by altering the balance of hormones in your body
•Increase your risk of heart disease and stroke
    •Raise your blood pressure
•Speed up tumor growth. Tumors grow two to three times faster in laboratory animals with severe sleep dysfunctions
Your body also does most of its repairs during sleep, so not getting enough of it can impair your immune system, leaving you less able to fight off diseases of ALL kinds.

  3. AAW, I am assuming that you sent this letter to Arlene King, Andrea Marin and The Minister of Health. Sure hope so … It is a good one. Very informative BUT SHE SHOULD KNOW THIS! How do we get these flunkies in such prestigious, cushy Gov’t Jobs???

  4. Arlene King’s so-called “report” last week was intentionally issued to spark a controversy which will go no where..it will “eat up” all your strength and efforts to get to the real issues here. By floating story after story about how these monsters don’t do any harm, first by CANWEA, then by McGuinty and now by King, these “interlopers” are effectively keeping the Wind Warriors “off balance” and focusing energy on a lost cause.

Our Lands are being STOLEN, our Democratic Rights are being ripped out from under us, our future Legacy we have worked so hard to nurture and build for our Grandchildren is being destroyed…………We are under attack here folks, from not just a lowly “officer” called King but a huge supply of NGO’s backed by Government bribes, our very own elected officials and mostly by the Financial Wizards the have destroyed the economies of the World!

I know this sounds rather overwhelming but the only thing that can put a halt to this fiasco is knowing the whole TRUTH that is behind this false industry!

When everyone KNOWS who and what is making it happen it will then cease to exist!…..it only succeeds under cover of the “night of ignorance”!

  5. Well said Quixote.

This whole “health effects” issue, as real as it is, seems to be a massive Red Herring. In my opinion, all said and done, best case, we get further setbacks. And how much time will this take before they decide to throw us this bone? Years?

“Okay folks, we’ve listened, you get your 1-2Km setback. Now shut up! Case closed, there will be no further action on this issue”.

IMO, persuing the health effects angle will do nothing to stop an out of control industry of pirates hell bent on robbing us all blind.

  6. People in Germany, maybe not with the wind industry, have complained about industrial wind turbines in their backyard. Tony Zwig is in a world of his own. There is so much literature out there with regards to effects that a high school student with little effort would be able to find enough published documents to list pages of problems with industrial wind. The Action Group Darmstadt Manifesto from Germany has over 90 doctor’s signatures in protest against industrialization of Germany’s rural areas with wind turbines. Our fine Ms. King must be above doing research on this subject, with more important things to do like create pandemics scares. How else could this report come to the fabricated conclusion it did.
