A dance is being held Friday, February 8 at 8 pm at the Waring Hall , with proceeds going to CCSAGE – County Coalition for Safe and Appropriate Green Energy.
The fight against industrial wind turbines inappropriately placed in important wildlife areas, or near residences, has been publicly waged by a handful of volunteers representing the citizen’s groups within CCSAGE. We have run campaigns such as the Naturally Green lawn signs, newspaper ads, flyers / information leaflets / information web pages, and held public meetings and rallies. We have written articles for newspapers and open letters to the Premier and the Ministers of the Provincial Government. At Shire Hall, we appeared before Council and the Committee of the Whole.
Now that the wind factory at Ostrander Point has been approved and we suspect that Phase 1 of White Pines is not far behind, it is time to focus our efforts. To continue that work, and to involve consultants in order to oppose the potential approval of the “White Pines” project, we are holding fundraising events such as this dance, with a goal of $15,000. Although this is outside the money required to fund legal cases directly, CCSAGE strongly supports the two-prong Ostrander Point legal appeals now under way by the Alliance to Protect Prince Edward County (APPEC; based on serious effects on human health) and Prince Edward County Field Naturalists (PECFN; based on serious and irreversible harm to the alvar ecosystem, endangered species, and migratory birds).
