Q: Where would the NDP position itself on the rural opposition to wind farms?
“It’s a sad thing because most people in Ontario think green energy is a good thing, but the government made a mess in implementation. They wanted to bring wind energy on quickly so they would have nice headlines in the GTA, but they didn’t do right by rural communities, cutting them out of the siting (where projects go) decisions. (Tory Leader Tim) Hudak said he will tear up the contracts, but we saw what that did with the gas plants. We will speak to municipalities about the possibility about giving them back the right to decide.
