Dufferin County will return to the negotiating table with Dufferin Wind Power Inc. in hopes of avoiding expropriation. On Thursday (Jan. 23), county council directed staff to continue negotiations to finalize an agreement to grant an easement along the county-owned rail corridor. The agreement will be presented to county council at their Feb. 13 meeting.

“It is different from what we’ve been doing,” said county Warden Bill Hill. “But when every avenue we’ve explored – and everyone else has explored – has been ignored and shut down by the province, the only option left for the county was to be faced with expropriation.”

According to the motion, Dufferin County has an opportunity to receive additional compensation and improved terms from Dufferin Wind over what would be granted through expropriation. Read article

  1. As long as some people have the attitude that they may as well get something out of a bad deal anyway this kind of thing will go on.
    There comes a time when people have to stand on principles and this would send a strong message to QP as well.

  2. Hill: It’s different now – join the relief;
    and, follow the passion.

    Chicago Style: ‘opportunity’ – but, and
    but, more lavish – [‘sold out’ compensation] – than you think;
    and, all behind closed doors.

    1. Is your CAO unbiased?………….
    and, working for your interests?

    2. Is it humanly possible – if you are the cabal?

    3. Who’s kidding who?

    Note:
    What about the human catastrophe being negotiated –
    or, is it looking too good;
    and, the checks, and balances – of……..wait!

    There’s a helicopter in the sky………….
    ‘[excerpt] Dufferin Wind spokesperson Connie Roberts said the company is pleased the county is returning to the negotiating table.

    “Until an agreement is reached however, DWPI must continue to pursue expropriation to ensure the project is not delayed,” Roberts said in an email to The Banner. “This being said, everyone with Dufferin Wind is feeling optimistic that a positive outcome will allow DWPI to cease expropriation proceedings after the February 13th Dufferin County Council meeting.”‘

    Happy Valentine’s Day!
    …….the fun starts for them –
    with a really nice balance – ……………without citizen support!

    Damn it………..
    Let them try to expropriate!
    ……so we can see what the Ontario Energy Board thinks – and, will do!

    • OEB directed them to expropriate
      this project will be completed no matter what
      there were turbines already erected before the ERT decision
      They are destroying peoples lands who they have no right to
      it is unbelievable what they are getting away with.
      ask Wynne and Chiarelli whats up?
      maybe Smitherman can help you out….

    • Hey snowball,
      I thought Hydro One backed away from this ‘Transmission Project’ better known as the corridor on the train tracks –
      leaving the Wind proponent – to build it themselves which they agreed to do.

      And, you say – the OEB has already given a private corporation the right to expropriate?
      Really?

      I must have missed something.

    • Hey snowball,
      You’re right!

      Not a draft for council approval – it’s final – done deal.

      Don’t elect assholes – to look after your affairs.

  3. Absolutely and utterly correct Barbara and Bill Hill has been doing business that way in Melancthon since turbines started in Ontario. Anything for one more $ Bill Hill. How many homes in your wasteland of a township have been purchased by the wind company? How many homes have been torn down by wind companies, quarry companies or any other company that will put one more $ your way.

    You have sold your entire township down the road and now as newly placed Warden, you work to sell the County down the road.

    Please let it be known, for the record, that Bill Hill has worked hard to deny any health problems in his township, has worked hard to keep bringing that wind $ in and deserves the same poster as the one we show McGuinty on, with turbines and township smouldering in the industrial mess, Bill Hill’s work here is done.

    That is YOUR legacy Hill.

      A nice performance!

      You notice how they hand out building permits – then complain.
      Really odd – isn’t it?

  4. Lorrie, its only a couple of weeks since the involvement of some in the medical profession has been exposed in writing. So let’s hope this will make a big,big difference from now on.
