Down Wind exposes the Wynne-McGuinty green energy disaster

TORONTO –
Anyone who has studied the Ontario Liberal government’s failed experiment with wind power knows what a financial and social catastrophe it has been. How billions of taxpayers’ and hydro customers’ dollars are being wasted, and will continue to be wasted for decades to come, because of former Liberal premier Dalton McGuinty’s naive blunder into wind energy, now fully supported by Premier Kathleen Wynne.

How it has contributed to skyrocketing hydro bills and to the loss of 300,000 manufacturing jobs in Ontario. A 2011 report by then auditor general Jim McCarter documented how the government rushed into wind energy without any business plan, ignoring even the advice of its own experts that could have substantially reduced costs.

As a result, Ontarians are now locked into 20 years of paying absurdly inflated prices for inefficient and unreliable wind power, which, ironically, still has to be backed up by fossil fuel energy, meaning natural gas. That means the Liberals’ gas plants scandal, costing taxpayers and hydro ratepayers up to $1.1 billion — according to reports by McCarter and current Auditor General Bonnie Lysyk — is also part of the Liberals’ legacy of wind power waste. Indeed, while the Liberals were telling us they were replacing coal power with wind and solar energy, they were actually doing it with nuclear power and natural gas. 1. Yes and more scams regarding the Liberals is that they bailed out a private company to the tune millions of $$$$ and the tax payers paid for a good number of MPP Liberals – to have their homes cleans along with their cottages cleaned at our expense!!! – VOTE THE LIBERAL BUMS OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • Frankly nonvoter I don’t have to listen to a story song or what ever to know if you don’t vote then don’t complain!!!!!!!!!! – exercise your right to vote!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! vote the Liberal bums out!!!

  2. “Dalton McGuinty’s naive blunder into wind energy, now fully supported by Premier Kathleen Wynne”
Calling McGuinty naive is being too kind. Corrupt would be a better choice of words..

  3. Even if there is another minority government formed under Wynne this battle against IWTs is NOT over.
Rural Ontarians are too smart and too well informed about IWT issues to let this situation go on.
And the more IWTs that are installed the worse this situation will become as more and more people become affected by IWTs.
Everyone needs to get out and vote! Don’t become collateral damage!

    • Hi Barbara!! I could not have said it better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! all the best!! and yes everybody get out and vote!!! get the Liberals out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • Yes Lyn (and Barbara too) you’re 100% correct.
There’s only one(1) way to stop this insanity at this present time & that is to vote the corrupt Liberal bastards out and elect the Hudak Conservatives, not the so called protest candidates, independants, NDPs, Greens or others.
Because only the PCs have said they’d stop it and we need every seat we can win, to get the majority government required to make the changes needed.
Siting around singing kumbiya (sp?) unfortunately won’t bring change, but would bring thanks from a newly elected Wynne gov.

      • Exercise your right to vote!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!vote the Liberals out!! – I went to a meeting last night and the people in Bimbrook are besides themselves!!! this entire turbine issue is a disaster!!!! and I still cannot get over that the MNR gave the AOK to take a eagles nest down in Selkirk Ontario !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! –

  4. Douglas…… Try “Kumbaya”! LOL We get your point and you’re “bang on”! Only wish the P.C.s would pledge to do something for those of us who are already living with these unwanted Wind “Farms” for whom promising to put a moratorium on future approvals will no longer be of any help…. or comfort!

  5. Lets be very clear that the Fed. Government has provided the policy to continue this insanity with IWT. They are covering their “back-sides” by pretending that the Canadian Health study is valid when it is well know that you do not do a study without a literature review prior to any work and not the other way around. The conservatives at the Fed level need to be given the same anger. Health Canada has been supporting that the 45dB is safe. You all fire off emails to those Con. MPs, and the Min. of Health and the Min. Nat. Resources

and demand that the industry lead- government supported wind policy be stopped http://www.nrcan.gc.ca/energy/renewable-electricity/wind/7331

    read the “next steps”.
As Barb has pointed out on MANY occasions this is about money. This is about our tax dollars at the Federal level and the provincial level supporting pension plans, bank and investment shareholders, political parties, oil and gas companies.

You better ask the conservative MPP’s looking for your vote what they are going to do about their Federal conservative MPs who have been supporting IWT policy for years and supporting a poorly designed health study that is designed to support the 45dBA Health Canada says is safe across Canada!

    • Hey Avoter,

I’m an idiot – so what.
…that being said, and out of the way….

What exactly has you spooked about the Conservatives @ the Federal level of government?
Research and Development (R&D) is an ongoing thing as it should be.

So again – what exactly has you spooked?

Make it short – idiots like me……..
      have a short attention span……
but, I love watching dogs –
      chase their tails.

      Vote Conservative!
Boot the Liberal/NDP Coalition – out!
      …..pass it on…..

      • Hi Free Thinker!! I’m with you all the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! – I guess I am one of the idiots to! Vote Conservative – iit is the only way to get the Liberal bums out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. Avoter:
In any struggle such as this, it is necessary to identify one’s main enemy; there is not the slightest doubt that Ont’s wind energy fixation is the dream world of the Dalton Mcguinty-Wynne Liberal government. All links to federal policy notwithstanding, natural resources are a closely guarded provincial responsibility. The IWT problem was initiated by McGuinty, egged on by wind cronies, it will be solved in Ont by some other future government.
For these reasons I was never an enthusiast of the federal Health study; I expect little good to come from it.
I’m aware of federal policy encouragement, and even some CPC MPs who may benefit, but it is your provincial government who has maximum opportunity to meddle with lives on this file.
On the federal scene, Mike Crawley was president of the Liberal party, and the current advisors to Trudeau include G Butts and other migrants from Dalton McGuinty’s shop.
Politics is the art of the possible, and on June 12 the goal of responsible Ontarians is to end the regime of the Liberals and elect a PC government. That would simply be a start, but a positive first step.

  7. “Has Canada cracked the Smart Grid Consumer code?”, Nov.1,2011
This article explains how time-of-use and the smart grid were put over in Canada.
It was much easier to do as electricity is government/provincial owned by and large.
Ontario has about 1/3 of the population of Canada so was very important to accomplish this in Ontario.
Also necessary to do this so that renewable energy could be brought in.
