Another Cedar Point wind project worker injured in Lambton County

2014_06010035Sarnia Observer, Paul Morden
Another worker has been injured during construction of the 46-turbine Cedar Point wind project being built in Lambton County for Suncor and NextEra. Suncor spokesperson Nicole Fisher said in an e-mail that a contract worker was taken to hospital following an incident Friday, that happened at approximately 3 p.m.

Fisher said contractor Amec Foster Wheeler notified authorities of the incident and suspended non-critical construction work at the site while an investigation is conducted. Tony McInally, a spokesperson for Amec Foster Wheeler, said Saturday the worker had been released from hospital and was recovering at home. McInally would not provided information about the nature of the incident, or the worker’s injuries.

“There is not a lot I can share with you, other than the Ministry of Labour was called, and they are investigating,” he said. McInally said Amec Foster Wheeler is also investigating. “Our primary concern, obviously, is the health of the injured worker,” McInally said. “We’re very happy that he has been released from hospital.”

It is the second time this summer a worker on the construction project has been injured and taken to hospital. On July 21, a Sentry Electrical worker fell from an elevated height inside a wind turbine shaft on Ravenswood Line. He was later released from hospital. Read article

We get heat breaks at 43 and 47 degrees Celsius

    15 minutes at 43 and 30 minutes at 47

….kicker is….they are forbidden from using the internal crane to lift workers up and down….kinda makes the breaks irrelevant!.

In the No. 1 slot this year: Canada, which has been the winner four out of six times. The other two years, in 2014 and 2010, it was No. 2. This year Norway moved up to second place from sixth in 2014 and Sweden is third, as it was last year. The Scandinavian countries and Finland have ranked in the top 10 all six years, as have Switzerland, Australia and the Netherlands. The U.S. is down in 22nd place, behind Thailand and just above Poland (more on the U.S. below).

        Congratulations Patrick Brown!

      • PC Leader Patrick Brown wins byelection with nearly 54% of vote

‘[excerpt] “The voters of Simcoe North rejected the attacks and negativity,” Brown said. “(The Liberals) tried attack techniques that we had never seen before and in Simcoe County we said no. We said we will support a candidate and a party that will speak about the potential of Ontario.”

Soon after Brown was declared winner, Premier Kathleen Wynne issued a congratulatory statement that nevertheless acknowledged their differences.

“It is important to have the leader of the opposition as a sitting member at Queen’s Park to engage in debate and represent his constituents,” Wynne said. “Patrick Brown and I have different views on many important issues facing our province. Now that he has earned the opportunity to sit in the legislature, I look forward to debating these issues with Mr. Brown when the legislature returns later this month.”

Now, with a seat at Queen’s Park, Brown is able to speak to issues across the province and in the riding he feels the Liberal government has failed to address.

“Over the last year, I have talked a lot around the province about affordable energy prices, cutting red tape and having good transportation corridors to get product to marketplace,” Brown said. “I’ve seen examples of those three here in Simcoe North — how they’re letting down businesses, how they’re letting down the ability to protect and create jobs in Simcoe County.”

The “fire sale” of Hydro One, the downgrading of the province’s credit rating and the loss of manufacturing jobs are also issues Brown highlighted.

The legislature will resume Sept. 14.’

‘[excerpt] It’s official, proof of which can be found online in the Canadian Council of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) 2015 Election Guide at under “publications”. Catholics like me were informed in paraphrased words at Sunday Mass yesterday, that the next four weeks during the federal election campaign, the homilies of all Catholic priests in Canada will abandon the Gospel of Christ for hardline electioneering advising folk to get out and vote Liberal on October 19.’

‘[excerpt] The logo on their election guide by their development group, Development and Peace, Parliament Hill is colored in red and orange—colors of the Liberals and NDP.

No Tory blue crayons in their coloring box.

Their thrust for Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau for Canadian Prime Minister is subliminal with references to the need in Canada for a “Just Society”, the phrase coined by Justin’s father, Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau back in 1968.

In spite of the election engineering going on in our churches, it is more important than ever to remember that it is Jesus Christ, and not the bishops, who is our guide.

The devil is not the only one left grinning that the Gospel of Christ will be replaced by election engineering in Canada’s Catholic churches.

Both opposition party leaders Justin Trudeau and Thomas Mulcair, Liberal and New Democrat Party, respectively, are shameless supporters of abortion. Indeed, candidates for either party cannot even run for office under their banners unless they promote abortion under the ruse of “choice”.

Both Trudeau and Mulcair are Catholic and from Quebec, with Mulcair boasting he is also a citizen of France.

In essence, the Liberals and NDP are the frick and frack of Canadian politics and in policy, there is no substantial difference between them.

Because they are agreed on forming a coalition if either gains minority status and because the NDP is currently leading election popularity polls, the Canadian bishops, if successful on their Sunday election guide run, will have delivered Canada over to the lib-left.

What the Canadian bishops are doing is an affront to Canadian laws: churches, covered under charitable status laws, are not permitted to engage in politics.

Meanwhile, their biggest affront is that most Catholics go to Sunday Mass to hear the Holy Gospel, not to be instructed audiences from the pulpit as captive audiences how to vote Lib-Left.’

‘[excerpt] Just last week, NDP Leader Thomas Mulcair told a group of South Asians in Surrey that family reunification for grandparents would be a top priority for him as Prime Minister.

These types of promises rarely make the evening news, but you can certainly read about them in ethnic media and community newspapers.

Meanwhile, the NDP have repeatedly opposed the Conservative governments requirement that sponsors must purchase private health insurance before bringing their parents and grandparents into Canada. The Tories paused new applications for parents and grandparents sponsorship in order to deal with a backlog of applications, but also created the “super visa” – a 10-year multiple entry visa to allow seniors to visit Canada but not drain our country’s social services.

Thomas Mulcair’s vision – the one he’s laid out when visiting ethnic communities but doesn’t promote elsewhere – is to bring more elderly immigrants into Canada to enjoy the benefits received by Canadian seniors.

No doubt, seniors have it good in Canada. And for good reason. Most have worked incredibly hard to build a life for themselves and their families. They can only expect to receive the retirement benefits they’ve been paying into their whole lives.

But is it fair for a person to come to Canada, having never worked or paid taxes in our country, to receive the same benefits as those who’ve been working and paying into the system for most of their lives? Will our healthcare, pensions and social services survive under ever increasing demand?

Thomas Mulcair seems to have no problem opening the floodgates. Canadians, on the other hand, may not be so generous.’

Province Continuing to Support Lifeline Syria
Organization Working to Resettle and Integrate Syrian Refugees in Ontario

        September 4, 2015 11:55 A.M.

Ministry of Citizenship, Immigration and International Trade

Ontario is continuing to support Lifeline Syria’s efforts to resettle and integrate 1,000 Syrian refugees in the Greater Toronto Area over the next two years.

Lifeline Syria is a community-based initiative that is helping to recruit, train and match private refugee sponsors in Ontario with Syrian refugees approved for resettlement by the federal government. Sponsors include organizations, individuals, or groups of individuals such as faith-based groups.

In April 2015, Ontario provided $30,000 in seed funding to Lifeline Syria to help kick start their operation. Over the past six months, Ontario has been working closely with Lifeline Syria’s steering committee to further develop its initiative. The province is now providing Lifeline Syria with an additional $300,000 so that it can continue its important work.

The funding will be used to:

Implement an outreach campaign to promote private sponsorship
Recruit, train and support private sponsors
Develop and coordinate targeted services for refugees, and help to build capacity within the community to meet their complex needs
Cover the cost of necessary staff positions, including case workers and a project manager.

Ontario’s Immigration Strategy recognizes that immigration is fundamental to Ontario’s social and economic well-being, and includes action on many fronts to improve services for vulnerable immigrant populations such as refugees.
        Quick Facts

In 2014, Ontario welcomed over 11,400 refugees to start a new life in our province.
Refugees typically experience greater settlement and integration challenges as a result of their pre-migration experiences, which may include prolonged periods in refugee camps, trauma, violence and limited access to health care and education.
Since 2013, Ontario has invested over $26.3 million in its Newcomer Settlement Program.
Refugee determination is a federal responsibility.

“Ontario has a proud history of welcoming and supporting those displaced by conflict and tragedy. The province is pleased to be supporting Lifeline Syria’s efforts to help refugees who have suffered unimaginable hardship and loss to resettle and integrate in Ontario.”

        Michael Chan

Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and International Trade

“The conflict in Syria has torn apart families and left thousands homeless and abandoned. We thank the Ontario government for continuing to support us in helping those displaced to build peaceful new lives in our communities.”

        Global citizen – Kathleen Wynne
oh yeah – and community organizer…..
        ………with scary issues!
Canada’s PM blocking climate reform, says Ontario premier Kathleen Wynne

‘[excerpt] The leader of Canada’s biggest province has escalated her feud with the country’s prime minister, accusing Stephen Harper of obstructing efforts to fight climate change and calling on Canadians to make global warming a decisive issue in the coming elections.

In an interview with the Guardian, Kathleen Wynne, the Liberal premier of Ontario, brought long-simmering tensions with Harper over energy and economic policy to a rollicking boil, repeatedly calling out the Conservative prime minister for blocking efforts to cut carbon pollution.

When it came to fighting climate change, Harper was an obstruction rather than a help, she said.

“There isn’t a collaborative process around any of this, and that is a real problem because it means that we are not supporting each other and we are not pushing each other in a constructive way. It is very confrontational,” she said.

“We are taking action in spite of [the federal government], quite frankly,” Wynne said. “The federal government at this point is just not helpful.”’

The Ontario premier reached an agreement with other provincial leaders on Friday that campaigners said would expand tar sands pipelines without sufficient protections for the environment. The new national energy strategy does not include targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions.’

        ……for Angela Merkel!!??!!
France and Germany will next week propose a series of “mandatory” measures to deal with Europe’s migration crisis, including plans to better distribute migrants among member states.

The European Union is struggling to deal with a rising influx of migrants from Africa and the Middle East. Their number has tested the bloc’s ability to police its exterior borders, exposed the weaknesses of its Schengen free-travel zone and caused tensions between member states.

In a joint statement Thursday, French President François Hollande and German Chancellor Angela Merkel said they would put forward proposals to improve conditions for refugees fleeing war and persecution.

“Others [migrants] are trying to improve their material situation by irregular means,” the statement said, referring to those who are considered economic migrants. “They need to be escorted back, with dignity.”

The Franco-German plan, which will be submitted to a council of European interior ministers on Sept. 14, would include measures to improve shelter and care for migrants, distribute them more evenly between member states and ensure that migrants not facing persecution at home would be sent back, the statement said.

The European Commission is also working on a new proposal for the relocation of as many as 120,000 refugees across the EU.

Until Sky News came out with the truth yesterday.

The Sky video on the tragedy is a video that should be ‘Truth 101 How the Other Media Propagandizes the News of the Day to fit its own Narrative’.
“I did not do Abdullah’s paper work yet,” little Alan’s Aunt Teema told Sky News on Thursday. “I did not ask the Canadian government for financial (or) anything.”

“The situation was Abdullah does not have any teeth.”

In reality there was no file on Alan and his family before the Canadian government. Nor did Teema ever ask the Canadian government for financial or help of any other kind. Teema’s help for the family was a private sponsorship, to raise the funds for dental implants for Abdullah at an estimated cost upward of $14,000.

While the CBC-led leftwing media is presenting the story that Alan, Galib and Rehan died trying to reach a Canada that didn’t want them, the truth is Teema and her father suggested that they might find a better life in Europe.

“So said to him if they go to Europe for his kids and for better future, then we see if we can fix his teeth.”

Pan-American states and regions pave way to Paris with climate agreement in Ontario

LONDON: A total of 22 states and regions across North and South America have committed to implement bold climate action to keep the global warming increase under 2 degrees Celsius, the internationally agreed limit to avoid the worst effects of climate change.

The states signed the Climate Action Statement during the Climate Summit of the Americas in Ontario, Canada, a meeting that gathered the continent’s most forward-thinking sub-national governments.

The discussion saw the participation of important climate figures such as Al Gore, former Vice President of the United States and Chairman of The Climate Reality Project, and Felipe Calderón, former President of Mexico and Chair of the Global Commission on the Economy and Climate.

“The Summit has been an important occasion to showcase the extraordinary impact of states, regions and cities on tackling climate change,” comments Libby Ferguson, States & Regions director, The Climate Group. “We praise Ontario, one of the most active members of our States & Regions Alliance, for bringing together other like-minded governments committed to make the difference.

“We know that climate change is an issue that cannot be tackled by one single government alone – and this year, the climate talks in Paris will demonstrate once again the value of collaboration. However, sub-national governments are already a step ahead, making bold commitments to reduce emissions, collaborating to develop world leading climate initiatives and share their policy successes on lowering emissions while raising living standards for their citizens.

“We are pleased that the Climate Action Statement explicitly calls on signatories to join the Under2MOU and report their goals and progress to the Compact of States and Regions, an invaluable instrument for providing the clarity necessary to spur an informed conversation in Paris.”

The Statement commits the states and regions to support carbon pricing, an area in particular where California, Quebec and Ontario are leading the whole region. The first two states even linked their systems last year, creating the largest regional carbon market in North America.

In April, summit host Ontario announced a plan to implement a carbon market linked to California and Quebec. Once operative, the mechanism will cover more than 75% of Canada’s population, and is expected to raise US$1-2 billion per year – which will be reinvested in projects aimed to reduce emissions and help businesses.

The document also commits the signatories to bold GHG emission reduction targets, in particular in the energy and transport sector. Even giving some difference between developed and developing areas, the final aim of the agreement is to limit the increase in global temperature to below 2 degrees Celsius by joining the Under2MoU initiative. The Compact of States and regions and the Compact of Mayors will also be central in reporting such progress in a public, verifiable way.

“Across the Americas, sub-national regions like Ontario are leading the way on climate change policy,” stresses Kathleen Wynne, Premier of Ontario. “The Pan-American action statement that we signed today unites us and takes us a step closer to achieving a progressive agreement at COP21 in Paris. Together, we are finding innovative ways to combat climate change while driving growth in a more sustainable, prosperous and equitable low-carbon economy.”

“We now have clear evidence of states, provinces, cities, and businesses leading the way on climate action,” concludes Felipe Calderón, “and achieving strong economic growth at the same time.”
